Sodipodi was an editor for vector graphics on Unix and Windows, published from Lauris Kaplinsky as free software under the GNU General Public License and later developed by a team. He used SVG as its native file format and could also graphics as raster graphics ( bitmap) export in PNG format. The last released version 00:34 dates from 11 February 2004.

Sodipodi launched on the basis of vector graphics editor Gill by Raphael Levien.

Sodipodi aimed at free, artistic design and less on the full implementation of SVG. Therefore, a part of Sodipodi developers started a new project to create a fully compliant SVG editor called Inkscape, which is to use existing standards instead of proprietary solutions.

On 31 March 2005, the program code development archive was closed and stopped further development of Sodipodi it.

Since 1 January 2009 there are again changing the source code, but so far no new version.
