Sofia Church

The Sofia kyrka is a church in the Södermalm district of Stockholm.

Building

Designed by architect Gustaf Hermansson in the style of Rhenish Romanesque church transition is named after the wife of the Swedish King Oscar II. The construction was begun in 1902 on a 46-meter high mountain, and completed in 1906. From 1948 to 1951, a restoration of the church and its establishment under the direction of Lars Israel Wahlman.

Equipment

The organ was built in 1906 by organ builder Johannes Magnusson ( Gothenburg ). The instrument initially had 24 stops on two manual stations and Pedal1948 to 1951 the organ was reorganized by the organ builder A. Magnusson. Today it has 46 registers on three manual and pedal works.
