SOFIX

The SOFIX (also Bulgarian: Индекс SOFIX ) is the official stock index of the Bulgarian Stock Exchange in Sofia. The SOFIX is a price index, in which the individual prices are weighted by the respective market capitalization of each company. The index takes into account the sum of the market capitalization of the companies listed in the index of the current portfolio as well as the previous day, and maps their changes. Initiated on 20 October 2000 leading index SOFIX could multiply the starting level (100 points) now and in October 2007 reached an all-time high of 1976.7 points, but since clearly listed below ( see links below).

The price barometer is constructed as a price index and includes the 12 most liquid companies in the Bulgarian Stock Exchange. For a recording companies must fulfill several criteria: In addition to a minimum trading period of three months, the market capitalization has reached 50 million leva ( 25 million euros ) and the trading volume of the last 12 months are over 5 million leva. The number of shareholders should not be less than 500 also. The resultant of these criteria index composition is varied, ranging from oil on Finance to hotels and tourism. Particularly strong are the Insurance & Reinsurance Insurance, the oil company Petrol AD and the pharmaceutical company Sopharma AD.
