Softwarepark Hagenberg

Software Competence Center Hagenberg (SCCH ) is one of the largest independent research centers in the field of software in Austria. SCCH is one of 16 COMET-K ompetenzzentren the K1 level, and thus belongs together with the 5 COMET competence centers of excellence to the K2 Level 21 centrally funded centers of the Austrian technology policy. SCCH is located in Hagenberg Software Park Hagenberg im Mühlkreis, Upper Austria.

History

Software Competence Center Hagenberg was founded in July 1999 as part of Kplus competence centers program, the Austrian government program for cooperation between industry and academia by five institutes of Engineering and Natural Sciences at the Johannes Kepler University Linz ( JKU).

Founding institutions:

  • RISC - Research Institute for Symbolic Computation (Institute for Symbolic Computation, Prof. Buchberger )
  • Institute of computer science (now Software Engineering, Prof. Pomberger )
  • FLLL - Institute for Knowledge-Based Mathematical Systems and Fuzzy Logic Laboratory Linz- Hagenberg (Prof. Klement )
  • FAW - Institute for Applied Knowledge Processing (Prof. Wagner)
  • Institute for Industrial Mathematics (Prof. Engl )

Since 1 January 2008 it is COMET K1 Center, one of about 20 in Austria during the continuation of the Kplus program.

It is located in the former Grange of the Castle of Hagenberg.

Organization and tasks

Software Competence Center Hagenberg is a consortium of partners from academia, business and economic development of the country-level to a research institution in the field of software. The ownership distributed as follows:

  • Upper Austrian Research GmbH: 33.33% (Research Holding the province of Upper Austria )
  • Johannes Kepler University Linz: 33.33%
  • Association of the partner companies of the Software Competence Center: 33.33%

The activities include the management of the Software Center in Hagenberg and software research, particularly in the area of software engineering technologies, databases and knowledge-based technologies. Focus of the COMET competence centers is a close connection between angewandeter science and economic demand (research and development - R & D, and purpose-oriented basic research).

About 70 researchers from different disciplines work in collaboration with academic and industrial partners software solutions.

Scientific Networking is with the Czech Technical University Prague, Universidad de Castilla -La Mancha, Christian -Albrechts -University of Kiel, and on the other Johannes Kepler University Linz, particularly with the founding institutions RISC, FLLL, FAW, SWE, and with the Institutes of system software ( SSW), and bioinformatics.

Corporate partners are about voestalpine, TRUMPF Maschinen Austria, Siemens Transformers Austria, Upper Austria Regional Health Insurance, GRZ IT Center Linz, Austria ALPINE -ENERGIE, Fronius International.
