Soham (Sanskrit)

So'ham ( Skt. सोहम् Soham "He is I " ) is a Hindu mantra, which is mentioned in several Upanishads. It also plays a role in yoga and tantra. This explains the Dhyanabindu Upanishad, which deals with the sacred syllable Om:

Interpretation

So'ham consists of the two Sanskritpronomen सः saw "he" "he" and अहम् aham "I", which takes the form of Soham in Sandhi.

The meaning is " It's me " or " I am He ," and symbolized the unity of the individual soul ( jiva ) with the Absolute. The mystical interpretation says that every living Ajapa this mantra recited by involuntary breathing, it sa stands for the inhalation and ham for exhalation.
