Sohmer Piano Building

The Sohmer Piano Building is a 13 - story high-rise in the borough of Manhattan in New York City. It is located 170 Fifth Avenue, at the corner of 22nd Street, in the Ladies' Mile Historic District. The famous Flatiron Building ( Fuller Building also ) is located in the immediate vicinity on Broadway.

The building with the gilded dome was built in 1897 to a design by Robert Maynicke in the style of Beaux -Arts architecture. It gets its name from the company that used the building as one of the first tenants, the piano-maker Sohmer & Co.

The New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission completed the building in 1989 under monument protection. From 2002 to 2005 the building was renovated, now it is used as a residence.
