Soke of Peterborough

The Soke of Peterborough is an area in England, which was traditionally associated with the city of Peterborough in conjunction, but a part of the county of Northamptonshire was.

When county councils were set up in 1888, Soke of Peterborough became an independent county. 1965 was combined with the small neighboring county of Huntingdonshire to form a more useful management unit. In 1974 the territory of the county of Cambridgeshire has been assigned.

Today, the area is - roughly in its historical borders - a Unitary Authority, see City of Peterborough.
