Soko 522

The Soko 522 was a two-seat trainer aircraft of the Yugoslav manufacturer Soko.

History and construction

The Soko 522 was a low -wing monoplane of all-metal construction with a retractable spur wheel chassis. It was designed by the Yugoslav engineers Sostaric, Marjanovic and Curcic at Icarus to the Utva to replace 213 Vihor. The aircraft had a two-seater cabin and cockpit closed seats arranged one behind the other. It was powered by a Pratt & Whitney R -1340 - AN-1 radial engine.

After the two prototypes were flying, the serial production of the aircraft factory of Soko was transferred. Until 1961 110 aircraft were produced. It was used as a novice trainer aircraft for the Yugoslav Air Force and asked only in 1978 out of service.
