Sokyriany Raion

Rajon Sokyrjany (Ukrainian Сокирянський район / rayon Sokyrjanskyj; Russian Сокирянский район / Sokirjanski raion, Romanian Raionul Secureni ) is a raion ( administrative district) in the Chernivtsi Oblast, in western Ukraine. The center is the city of Rajons Sokyrjany, in the north it borders on the Rajon Nowa Uschyzja ( in the Khmelnytskyi Oblast ), to the east by Rajon Mohyliw - Podilskyj ( in the Vinnytsia Oblast ), to the south by Moldova, on the west by Rajon Kelmenzi and to the north by Rajon Kamjanez - Podilskyj ( in the Khmelnytskyi Oblast ).

The Rajon was built in 1966 during the Soviet era in the Ukrainian SSR, almost 90 percent of the population in 2001 gave their nationality with Ukrainian on.
