Sol Halperin

Sol Halperin ( born February 16, 1902 in Newark, New Jersey; † May 4, 1977 in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, California ) was an American cinematographer and special effects technicians.

Short Biography

Sol Halperin, the uncle of Richard H. Kline later also working as a cameraman, working 1928-1930, first as a cameraman at five films and then moved into the special effects department.

Halperin, who was employed by 20th Century Fox, as well as five other camera men were instrumental in the development of CinemaScope technology.

Also Halperin was twice, 1966-1969 and 1970-1973, president of the American Society of Cinematographers.
