Solahütte

The Solahütte was near the village of Międzybrodzie Bialskie at Saybusch (Polish: Żywiec ) (30 kilometers south of Auschwitz (Polish: Oswiecim ) ) located Erholungsheim / casino that during the time of Nationalsozialismus by members of the SS guard the Konzentrationslager in the region was used (also: SS -Hütte Porombka ).

This " holiday home " was built by a prisoner command of the Auschwitz concentration camp in 1942 under the direction of the subsequent protective custody camp leader Franz Hossler. It was from the fall ( October / November) 1940 to January 1945 in operation; with also some female concentration camp prisoners there were used for forced labor ( work detail ).

The building complex is about three kilometers northeast of the dam located allowed stunning views in the Solatal and to the dam.

This place came in 2007 to the attention of the German public after an " Auschwitz Album " became acquainted with Karl -Friedrich hump -captured images, the people showed that were heavily involved in the crimes of National Socialism and spent their free time in the Solahütte. These people were, inter alia, the concentration camp doctor Josef Mengele, the commandant of the concentration camp Auschwitz Hoess and Josef Kramer.
