Soldotna is a city in Kenai Peninsula Borough of the U.S. state of Alaska. It is located in the west of the Kenai Peninsula, a few kilometers from the coast of Cook Inlet. The Sterling Highway crosses the Kenai River in Soldotna.

Under the Homestead Act, the U.S. government allowed in 1947 veterans of World War II to take the place of the present Soldotna country for themselves in possession. It was formed by a small town that had 1960 332 inhabitants.

1957 oil was found in the region around Soldotna, which gave the place a small economic boom.

Today, the city of sport fishermen and tourism is alive and is the seat of administration of the Kenai Peninsula Borough.
