Solid state (electronics)

With solid state (English for solid state or solid state of aggregation ) is called in the electronic components or devices in which electron tubes instead of mechanical parts or semiconductor components are used, which have been developed with the help of solid state physics.

Examples

  • As the first fully transistorized radio receivers became available, containing no shock and fragile tubes but these were attributed with solid state. In the English-speaking world, this term was usually printed on the transistor receivers and was highlighted in the advertisement.
  • Optocoupler to replace mechanical relays are also called solid state relay (SSR ).
  • Solid State Drives ( SSD) replace hard drives with mechanical rotating disks.
