Soliman Pasha al-Faransawi

Soliman Pasha, Turkish Süleyman Paşa, arab. Sulayman Pasha; (* 1788 Joseph Anthelme Sève in Lyon, † 1860 in Cairo ) called al - Faransawî ( " the Frenchman " ) was a Franco- Egyptian officer.

Joseph Anthelme Sève 1803-1814 was a soldier in the French army and adjutant of Marshal Grouchy last. In 1815 he went to Egypt, which was ruled at the time by Muhammad Ali Pasha. There he served on the staff Ibrahim Pasha, the son of Muhammad Ali Pasha. Under the direction of Joseph Anthelme Seve the Egyptian army was modernized.
