Solomon Hillen, Jr.

Solomon Hillen junior ( * July 10 1810 in Baltimore, Maryland, † June 26, 1873 in New York City ) was an American politician.

Hillen was born in 1810 on the family property Hillen Road near Baltimore. He studied law at Georgetown College and practiced after his admission to the bar in Baltimore. From 1834 to 1838 he was a member of the House of Representatives from Maryland.

Hillen, who was elected as a Democrat to the 26th Congress, represented by the March 4, 1839 until March 3, 1841 the state of Maryland in the U.S. House of Representatives. After retiring from Congress, he again began to work in his former profession and held next 1842 to 1845 the office of Mayor of Baltimore. Hillen died in 1873 in New York and was buried in Greenmount Cemetery in Baltimore.
