Soltau Toy Museum

The game Soltau Museum (formerly the North German Toy Museum ) is a museum in the Lower Saxon town of Soltau. It is clear from a private collection of the Soltau Ernst family.

History

1978 show Hannelore, Mathias and Antje Ernst their toy collection for the first time in the three rooms of their private home. In 1984, the Doll and Toy Museum is established at the town hall. On the ground floor of the old mayor Villa in Rose Street, the collection will be unveiled to the public.

Since 1988, the Games Museum is in a listed building in the center of Soltau Ebelmeyerhaus. Between 1996 and 1999, the exhibition area of ​​200 600 square meters will be expanded.

In order to secure the continued existence of the important collection, was the non-profit foundation game: Historical Toys - founded innovative game rooms, which runs the museum since 1 August 2005. Exhibition

In the game museum exhibits represent four centuries on a 600 square meter piece of toy and cultural history. In addition to dolls made of different materials as well as doll houses, stuben, kitchens and shops, the museum also railways, sheet metal and wooden toys, magic lantern devices as well as teddy bears and other stuffed animals. On 600m ² not only a variety of exhibits can be admired. The up to 40,000 visitors a year are offered for play and opportunities.

The highlight of the exhibition is Dingley Hall, a three-meter wide and 2 meters high doll house that was bought in 2003 for € 190,000 at Christie's in London.
