The Somaliland shilling ( English Somaliland shilling, Somalia Soomaaliland shilin ) is the currency of the internationally unrecognized Somaliland, which was introduced in October 1994. It is a non-traded outside the country domestic currency.

Output Institute is the Baanka Somaliland, the central bank of Somaliland. This determines the value of the Somaliland shilling against other currencies. In March 2006, we got 6,400 Somaliland shillings for one U.S. dollar. An official ISO code for the currency does not exist, is the common abbreviation SQS.

Course coins were issued in denominations of 1, 5, 10, 20 and 1000 SQS. Notes are in denominations of 5, 10, 20, 50, 100 and 500 SQS.

Due to the low nominal value of domestic banknotes and other currencies in payments spread, primarily the U.S. dollar and the Ethiopian birr.
