Somebody to Love (Queen song)

Somebody to Love is a rock song by the rock band Queen. He was released on 12 November 1976 as the first single from the album A Day at the Races and is one of the most known songs of the band. It is also included on the album Greatest Hits.

History

The piece was written by Freddie Mercury on piano. It is based similarly to that in the previous year published Bohemian Rhapsody on a fairly complex melodies and a gospel choir arrangement. Roger Taylor described the piece as Aretha Franklin affected.

Cover versions

When Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert in April 1992, which took place on the occasion of Mercury's death, the piece was sung by George Michael. There are many other versions, whether, for example, live or in films, eg by Anne Hathaway, Brittany Murphy and Tony Hadley.
