Sommen

The Sommen is a 130 km ² large lake in the Swedish province of Östergötland ( to the south bordering Smaland ), about 40 km east of Lake Vättern. He is up to 53 meters deep and has about 260 islands. The length of its shoreline is about 449 km. The largest town on the lake is Tranås.

The lake is known for its clear, nutrient-poor water, which can be seen under good conditions up to 10 meters in depth. Are widespread fish species such as Arctic char ( Salvelinus alpinus ), whitefish (Coregonus fera ), trout (Salmo trutta ) and vendace (Coregonus albula ). Birdlife is plentiful on the shores breed eg several osprey.

The Somme Sage
