Somsanith Vongkotrattana

Prince Somsanith Vongkotrattana ( born April 19, 1913 in Luang Prabang, † 1975), a Laotian politician and multiple Minister 1946-1960 was.

Journey

Somsanith Vongkotrattana came from a branch of the royal family of Luang Prabang. His father was Prince Khammanh Vongkotrattana, his mother Princess Sanghiemkham who divorced later. After his education he entered the service of the French colonial administration and in 1942 Mr. ( chao ) of the district ( Meuang ) Vientiane until 1945.

However, he was regarded merely as a straw man for Phoumi Nosavan, the leader of the rights in the Lao civil war. The coup d'etat of the neutralist Captain Kong Le on August 9, he was ousted. From 1961 to 1963 he was speaker of the National Assembly.

1973 he was appointed as one of the twelve members of the Royal Council ( Thipuksā Phramahākaxāt ). He died in 1975.

His son Prince Nithakhong Somsanith (* 1959 (?) ), Is a gifted artist for traditional gold embroidery.
