Sonda

The term probe ( v. französ. Probe ) generally refers to a device or a device with which it is possible to get access to remote or difficult to access locations. At the remote location to be mostly investigated with some instruments or measurement systems, or to get material to be transported or to be removed therefrom.

In several fields, the term has a special meaning:

  • Probe ( dentistry)
  • In medicine for rod-shaped, tubular or tubular instruments that are introduced for examination or treatment in body cavities or tissues; often ( feed by gavage ) for supply of food, see food probe
