Song Dao District

Amphoe Song Dao ( Thai: อำเภอ ส่องดาว ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) in the west of the province of Sakon Nakhon. The Sakon Nakhon Province is located in the northeast region of Thailand, the so-called Isaan.

Geography

Amphoe Phu Phan bordered from the north clockwise as seen Amphoe Sawang Daen Din to the Phang Khon and in the province of Sakon Nakhon and Amphoe Chai Wan Udon Thani province.

History

The area of present-day district is mountainous and was formerly consisted of dense forest in which robbers could hide well that travelers often robbed on the way from Kalasin to Udon Thani. Thus, this area was known as the Song Dao Chon ( ช่อง ดาว โจร ), which means " robber - cave ". After the government in the 19th century was able to secure the streets, it was renamed in Song Dao ( " Shining Star" ).

A sub-district ( King Amphoe ) Song Dao was established on 1 April 1972 by the three tambon Song Dao, Watthana and Sila Tha Sawang Daen were separated from Amphoe Din. On September 8, 1976 he was promoted to Amphoe.

Attractions

  • The National Park Phu Pha Lek extends over the Phu Phan mountain range, which runs through the county.

Management

Amphoe Song Dao consists of four sub-districts ( tambon), which further into 46 villages ( Muban ) are divided.

There is a small town ( thesaban tambon) in the district:

  • Song Dao ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ส่องดาว ), consisting of parts of the tambon Song Dao and Wapi Pathum.

There are also four " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations) in the district.
