Sonia Bisset

Sonia Bisset ( born April 1, 1971 in Bayamo ) is a retired Cuban javelin thrower.

The most significant success of her career she achieved by winning the bronze medal at the IAAF 2001 World Championships in Edmonton. With a width of 64.69 m she had to give in ( 69.53 m) and Mirela Maniani from Greece ( 65.78 m) only beaten her compatriot Osleidys Menéndez.

Other notable results achieved Bisset as the winner of the Central American and Caribbean Championships in 1995 and 1998, the Ibero- American Championships and the IAAF Grand Prix Finals 2000. Moreover, she won silver medals at the Universiade in 1997, the IAAF World Cup in 2006 and at the Pan American Games in 2007. During the Olympic games in 2000 and 2004, she was fifth, respectively. In World Athletics Championships she reached the finals always between 1997 and 2007.

Sonia Bisset is 1,71 m tall and had a competition weight of 69 kg.
