Sonja Hegasy

Sonja Hegasy ( * 1967 in Leverkusen ) is a German Islamic scholar and Vice- Director of the Centre for Modern Oriental Studies.

Life

The study of Islamic studies she completed in Cairo, Bochum, New York and at the University of Witten / Herdecke and received his PhD in 1996 at the Department of Political Science at the Free University of Berlin. Until 1998, she served as a junior expert at the Friedrich Ebert Foundation in Cairo. Only employed as a research assistant at the Centre for Modern Oriental Studies in Berlin, it was from 2008, its Deputy Director and Chairman of the Board, " Science and Current Affairs " of the Goethe- Institute in Munich.
