SonneMondSterne

The Sun Moon Stars Festival (abbreviated SMS) is one of the largest open-air festival of electronic dance music in Europe, occur sporadically in representatives of rock and pop. The festival takes place annually on the second weekend in August in Thuringia at the Bleilochtalsperre at Saalburg- Ebersdorf instead.

The first SonneMondSterne Festival took place in 1997 with 2,500 visitors instead. 2011 about 35,000 people attended the three-day event.

An offshoot existed in 2001 and 2002, the Winter Camp, which was a series of events in the month of February in order to bridge the time until the next Sun Moon Stars festival. Due to the large number of visitors, the winter camp moved in April 2003 on the old military airfield after Altstedt and called himself SonneMondSterne presents Camp Music. 2004 took place the last Camp Music.

Since 2007, every Sun Moon Stars festival is named with an X as an additive, which is a Roman numeral and 2007 therefore stood as SMS.X1 for the eleventh event.

Structure of the festival site

The structure is virtually unchanged since 2004. Apart from special circumstances and occasions consists of the terrain:

Outside the festival area are several acres of camping, washing and shower areas, as well as shopping and catering facilities available. The campsite is divided depending on the distance to the festival site in "loud" and "quiet".
