Sonnenbühl

Sonnenbühl is a municipality on the plateau of the Swabian Alb, just south of Reutlingen. The seat of the municipality is in the district Undingen.

Geography

Geographical location

Sonnenbühl lies on the northern edge of the Swabian Alb, on the so-called Middle Kuppenalb. The district Genkingen ( 771 m above sea level. NN ) extends up to the escarpment. He is at the upper end of the Wiesaztales. West of Willmandingen ( 751 m above sea level. NN ) arises Lauchert. In the district Erpfingen ( 731 m above sea level. NN ) arises from the Erpf, which flows south of the village in the Lauchert. The district Undingen lies 775 m above sea. NN. The lowest point is at 645 m in Seebachtal at Willmandingen, the highest with 880.8 m on the Bolberg.

Geology

The near-surface geological underground Sonnenbühls is dominated by the rocks of the White Jura. The valley sides are formed by the calcareous clay of the White Jura alpha, the step edge and the plateau of the Jura from the banked limestones of the White Jura betha. The plateau is superimposed on the part of powerful Verwitterungslehmen and protons. The Swabian Alb in Sonnenbühl is dominated by several peaks, which are formed by reef limestones of the White Jura delta and are dissected as Härtlingskuppen. A prime example of such a summit is the westernmost of Willmandingen Ruchberg. The limestones of the White Jura are heavily karstified and dominated by karst features such as caves, sinkholes and dry valleys.

Community structure

The municipality was created Sonnenbühl on 1 January 1975 as part of the municipal reform in Baden- Württemberg, initially under the name Undingen, from the four previously independent municipalities Erpfingen, Genkingen, Undingen and Willmandingen. In the four previous municipalities villages within the meaning of Baden-Württemberg municipal code are each with its own mayor and Ortschaftsrat as its Chairman eingerichtet.siehe also castle Hohenerpfingen ( Schnatren ), Outbound castle Erpfingen

Among the parts of the municipality Undingen and Willmandingen each include only the villages of the same name. The municipal portion Erpfingen include the village Erpfingen, the homestead Dreherhof and the houses Erpfmühle and pumping station, and community part Genkingen include the village Genkingen and the house Talmuhle.

To the east of the municipality is part Erpfingen the Outbound village hamlet, whose name was preserved as field name. In addition, a settlement could be detected by excavations 1969/70 in Lower Won Wässere. In the hamlet of Undingen is the Outbound castle Hohengenkingen and in the community part Willmandingen 1846 Outbound Seebach mill.

Climate

In February 1978, the district Erpfingen was officially declared a health resort.

History

In the municipality there were probably already in the 3rd century Alemannic settlements.

The name Erphinga ( Erpfingen ) on November 16th 777 for the first time on a deed of gift of the Lorsch codex.

Genkingen is mentioned as gear rings on another deed of gift of Lorsch Abbey from the year 772. The village belonged since the Middle Ages to the Lords of Genkingen who entertained her there (castle Genkingen ). They have been mentioned several times in gift certificates to the monastery Zwiesel. Since 1506 it belonged to the nunnery Pfullingen and was part of Württemberg after the Thirty Years' War.

Already 806 Undinga was owned by the monastery of St. Gall. In 1098 it was donated Count Luithold Achalm the monastery Zwiesel and 1454 Undingen was then part of Württemberg.

The name Willmandingen stands on a deed dated 10 July 772 the monastery of St. Gall. This indicates a certain Ruotah that he Willimundincas in a church in honor of St. Gallus edify and this endows goods and serfs. He probably comes from an Alemannic tribe leader Willi mouth from the 3rd century. 1474 was acquired by Count Eberhard of Württemberg the place, so this came to Oberamt Urach, in 1808 the district of Reutlingen.

The council has 18 members in Sonnenbühl. The turnout at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 was 57.1 % and showed the following distribution of seats:

The council consists of the honorary councilors elected and the mayor as chairman. The mayor is entitled to vote in the local council.

Mayor

The mayor is elected for a term of eight years. On 12 July 2009, the incumbent mayor Gerrit Elser was elected as the new mayor in Giengen. Therefore, a mayoral election was held in Sonnenbühl on 11 October 2009. Uwe Morgenstern was elected with a clear majority ( 58.9 %) in the first ballot for mayor.

The former autonomous districts had very different own coat of arms. Therefore, it was agreed the merger on designing a brand new coat of arms. This is formed from the two components of the community name. The blazon of the municipal coat of arms is: ". Azure, over golden ( yellow ) hill ( Buhl ) a golden (yellow ) sun with 16 alternating consecutive straight and S-shaped curved golden ( yellow ) rays"

Culture and sights

Museums

In the district Erpfingen the first Easter Egg Museum in Germany was established and inaugurated in February 1993. It shows over a thousand exhibits from all over Europe.

Sports

In the district Erpfingen is since 1992 a spa gardens and a 1,300- meter-long summer bobsled run.

For golf lovers there are in Undingen an 18- hole golf course.

In winter there are a variety of trails for cross country skiers in a variety of difficulty and length, in the summer, these are hiking trails.

Economy and infrastructure

Economy

The community hall is used for both agricultural and forestry intensive. Sonnenbühl is a year round holiday destination. A special role plays therefore the tourist infrastructure. These include Sonnenmatte, swimming and camping at Erpfingen, cycling, hiking and ski runs as well as This tourist attractions, such as the show caves. A ski lift at Genkingen allows downhill skiing.

In a quarry on the northern edge of Willmandingen limestone is broken. In Willmandingen formerly bean ore was recovered.

Traffic

The municipal area is developed in a north-south direction through the provincial road 382 and the east-west direction through the provincial road 230.

The public transport is guaranteed by the integrated transport system Neckar -Alb -Donau ( NALDO ). The municipality is located in the comb 223

Conservation

The area between the Lichtenstein Castle and the mist cave is a nature reserve and Gereuthau is called, which means something like " of cleared forest ." It is a juniper heath, which is used as a sheep pasture.

Natural Monuments

The main attractions of Sonnenbühl are probably the two major caves and cave bears Nebelhöhle.

  • The Bear Cave is part of the district Erpfingen and is walkable to 271 meters in length. Part of it, Charles Cave, was discovered on May 30, 1834, the Bear's Den until 1949.
  • The first part of the mist cave was discovered in 1517. 1920 was an even bigger part in so that today 450 meter cave are developed. It is located near the village of Genkingen, but is also partly on mountian Lichtenstein and is historically seen in connection with the nearby Schloss Lichtenstein.
