Sony Alpha 57

The Sony α57 ( SLT- A57V, SLT -A57 ) is a middle-class camera, which is available since April 2012 in the German retail sector. It is the successor to the Sony α55 and how this has a partially transparent mirror. Sony calls this design "single -lens translucent camera", short SLT camera. As SLT offers phase comparison autofocus in Live View and an electronic viewfinder. In contrast to the previous model, but do not have a built-in GPS module.

By using the partially transparent mirror instead of the usual folding mirror, which must fold up for the taking, it is possible to perform up to twelve images per second at constant refocusing. This speed was far, if at all, only far more expensive cameras reserved. Also, by focusing in Live View mode with the same speed is possible, such as through the viewfinder. The α57 has, as usual with Sony, a built-in image stabilizer for the 16.2 - megapixel sensor.

The Sony α57 is available in the following versions:

  • SLT -A57 (camera without lens)
  • SLT- A57K ( 18-55 mm/3.5-5.6 camera with Sony lens )
  • SLT- A57M (camera with 18-135 mm/3.5-5.6 Sony lens )
  • SLT- A57Y (camera with 18-55 and 55-200 mm/3.5-5.6 mm/4-5.6 Sony lens )
