Sophia Lee

Sophia Lee ( born May 13, 1750 in London, † March 13, 1824 in Clifton, Bristol City today ) was an English writer.

Sophia Lee in 1750 as the daughter of actor John Lee ( Covent Garden Theatre) and sister of Harriet Lee born.

Sophia Lee brought in her 30th year with applause the comedy The chapter of accidents to Performance, then founded in 1780 with Harriet a girls' school in Bath, retired in 1803 from the line and died March 13, 1824 in Clifton, Bristol.

Among her writings are of a precursor of the historical school to be considered in the novella novel The recess, or a tale of other days (London 1784) and edited with Harriet Canterbury Tales ( 1797-1805, 5 vols. ), Soon became a favorite reading of the English public to highlight. From the latter work has the story Kruitzner, or the German 's tale (single 1823) the substance to Lord Byron's tragedy Werner, or the Inheritance ( Werner, or the inheritance, 1822) delivered.
