Sophia Young

Sophia Yvonne Young ( * December 15 1983 in St. Vincent and the Grenadines) is a professional basketball player. She currently plays for the San Antonio Silver Stars in the Women's National Basketball Association.

Career

College

Sophia Young played until 2006 for the Baylor Lady Bears, the women's basketball team at Baylor University. In 2005 she won the Lady Bears the NCAA Women's Division I Basketball Tournament.

Women's National Basketball Association

Young was selected by the San Antonio Silver Stars in the fourth position in the WNBA Draft 2006. In her first season, she was always in the starting lineup of the Silver Stars and since the first game was already one of the key players in the Silver Stars. This season, she was also elected to the Western All-Star team. However, Young played a strong rookie season she was away with the Silver Stars far from the playoffs. Before the 2007 season, the Silver Stars Becky Hammon, Ruth Riley, Erin Buescher and Sandora Irvin brought to San Antonio. Young mainly benefited by the obligation of Becky Hammon, thus Young was able to increase its average of 12 points to 16.8 points per game.
