Sophie Gay

Sophie Gay ( born July 1, 1776 Marie Françoise Sophie Nichault de Lavalette in Paris; ibid † March 5, 1852, with Jean Vatout Gemeinschaftspseudonym Baron Pergami ) was a French writer.

Life

Sophie Gay was married in first marriage with Gaspard Liottier, in second marriage with Jean Sigismond Gay. Each couple had three children. She lived for ten years in Aachen and Paris. In both cities, she made her salon to the center of social and intellectual life. Later she lived in Paris. Delphine Gay, her eldest daughter from his second marriage, was a well-known poet.

Works

Your first three novels Laure d' Estell (1802 ), Léonie de Montbreuse (1803 ) and Anatole (1815 ) are characterized by witty, subtle observation, deep and tender feeling and an elegant, lively style. Her later novels Les malheurs d'un amant heureux (1818 ) ( in the manner of Gil Blas ), Le moqueur amoureux ( 1830), Un mariage sous l'Empire, and others are weaker. She also wrote several plays (Le marquis de Pomenars ), who had some success. She also wrote a large number of poems, romances and treatises.
