Sora, Lazio

Sora is a municipality in the province of Frosinone in the Italian region Latium, located about 26 222 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012). It is located 110 km east of Rome and 28 km north-east of Frosinone and is the seat of a Roman Catholic diocese.

Geography

Sora is in the upper Lirital on the edge of Abruzzo. It is a member of the Comunità Montana Valle di Liri.

The neighboring municipalities are Arpino, Balsorano (AQ ), Broccostella, Campoli Apennines, Castelliri, Isola del Liri, Monte San Giovanni Campano, Pescosolido and Veroli.

History

The former cathedral was consecrated by Pope Adrian IV in 1155, was destroyed in an earthquake in 1634.
