Sordariomycetidae
Camarops polysperma
The Sordariomycetidae are a sub- class of the Ascomycota.
Features
The Sordariomycetidae form light to dark perithecia as fruiting bodies. The asci are not amyloid, amyloid or hold no Apikalring. Some representatives have real paraphyses. In the first description by Eriksson and Winka 1997, only molecular characteristics were listed, as the holotype Sordariales were defined.
System
The Sordariomycetidae are the sister group of the Hypocreomycetidae. Hibbett et al. (2007) divided the subclass in the following orders:
- Boliniales
- Calosphaeriales
- Chaetosphaeriales
- Coniochaetales
- Diaporthales
- Ophiostomatales
- Sordariales
Zhang et al. showed in 2006 that both the subclass and the individual orders are monophyletic groups. The Calosphaeriales were not part of this investigation, but they are of Hibbet et al. placed near the Diaporthales. Zhang et al. presented on the following cladogram, which also contains some standing isolated families:
Papulascaceae
Annulatascaceae
Ophiostomatales
Magnoportaceae
Diaporthales
Coniochaetales
Sordariales
Chaetosphaeriales
Boliniales
