Sorsele Municipality

Sorsele is a municipality (Swedish kommun ) in the Swedish province of Västerbotten County and the historic province of Lapland. The main town of the municipality is Sorsele.

In the capital lives almost half of the total population. Other villages are Blattnicksele, Ammarnäs Gargnäs, cliffs and several other small places. The community is geographically one of the largest municipalities in Sweden, but it counts with a population density of 0.4 inhabitants per km ² of the most sparsely populated.

Traffic

The most important road is the European Route 45 In addition, maintains the domestic train in the main town Sorsele.

With the Sorsele Proving Grounds is an automotive proving grounds in the community.

Attractions

In the capital Sorsele the Inland Railway Museum shows the history of the Inland Railway. Also of Sorsele of drives on the Älvkungen ( "River King "), a twelve-meter- long ship, the old plans is reproduced, the Vindelälven.

About 60 km from Sorsele in Ammarnäs is the small church with a separate bell tower Gillesnuole. The Victoria Church 80 km west of Sorsele was built 1936-38 with an anonymous donation of 12,000 crowns.

The community offers some scenic highlights. The Gimegoults Conservation Area is located about 15 kilometers east of Sorsele and can be reached via a 1.5 km long hiking trail. Sanderseleforsen is a nature reserve with views of the rapids. The nature reserve Vindelfjällen lying around in the west of the municipality to Ammarnäs. In him we find the moraine hills Potatisbacken ( " mountain potato "). Even the Royal Trail ( "Royal " ) crosses the area here. The waterfall Brudslöjan is about 50 km away in the direction of Sorsele Ammarnäs.
