SOS (Rihanna song)

SOS, also SOS ( Rescue Me ) is a 2006 published song of Barbadian R & B singer Rihanna. The song is the first single from her album A Girl Like Me and it is their first of twelve number - one singles in the United States.

Background

Originally, the title of Christina Milian for her album So Amazin ' are sung, but rejected the song. The CEO of Iceland Def Jam Music Group, LA Reid, Rihanna then offered to the title.

Composition and production

The text was written by JR Rotem, Evan " Kidd" Bogart and Ed Cobb. It's about the intoxicating and yet strange feeling to fall in love with someone and to behave themselves atypical.

The song was recorded in October 2005 and released on 7 February 2006. As a producer who already participated in the text JR Rotem was responsible. He used the Dating back to the 1981 main theme of Soft Cells Tainted Love. Also, the wording " You got me tossin 'and turnin ' and I can not sleep at night" was taken from the template.

Commercial success

In the United States the title of # 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, Pop 100, Hot Dance Music / Club Play, Hot Dance Airplay, Hot Digital Songs and Hot Digital Tracks reached. In the Pop 100 Airplay Song of the place 2 SOS reached broke the 2 million downloads mark in the USA.

The title was Rihanna's first number -one hit in Australia and staying for eight weeks at the top. In the UK and Germany the song was at # 2 After 13 weeks, the song was removed from the UK singles chart, as a remix of SOS on the single is to Unfaithful. The rules of the British charts indicate that a new single can not have a remix of previous single, if this is still in the charts.

Music Video

The official music video was shot, directed by Chris Applebaum and celebrated on 23 March 2006 on MTV's Total Request Live and Much Music's MuchOnDemand premiere. The music video is a typical dance video, which is choreographed isolated passages and is divided into different visual themes. So Rihanna dances among others, along with a male dancer in a letter addressed to the pair spotlight, where he pushes her away. Again and again the video shows scenes in which Rihanna with male as well as female backing dancers but also occurs Solochoreografien dances. Visually, it is greatly resorted to blending effects.
