Söse Dam

The Söse reservoir lake is a reservoir in the Lower Saxon part of the resin at Osterode am Harz, Lower Saxony.

Description

The Söse reservoir lake was built as the first dam Harzwasserwerke 1928-1931 at the Söse and is used for drinking water supply, flood protection, the low water levels and power generation. The construction of the dam then cost 14.7 million Reichsmarks. Operators are the Harzwasserwerke. 1933 began the construction of a water pipeline from the Söse reservoir lake, whose northern branch extends up to Bremen. Today, more cities and municipalities in the area of ​​Hildesheim and Hannover are supplied. Since 1980, the city of Göttingen receives drinking water from the dam.

Dam

The dam is an earth dam with a central concrete core and Lehmdichtung. The hydroelectric power plant, which is used to cover peak loads, has a capacity of 1.44 MW and an annual working capacity of 3.10 GWh. The spillway (overflow) is placed to the slope of the dam at the southern junction.

Vorsperre
