Sota Okamura

SOTA Okamura (Japanese冈村 创 太, Okamura Sota; born February 4, 1977 in Sapporo ) is a Japanese ski jumper.

At the Junior World Cup in 1995 in Gällivare, he won the team competition, together with Kazuya Yoshioka, Suguru Miyasaki and Yuzo Ikeda behind the teams from Germany and Austria the bronze medal. On January 20, 1996, he jumped his first World Cup competition on his home hill in Sapporo. He finished jumping on the 46th place. After another hapless jump on the large hill in Sapporo he took a international competition break for five years. However, his first jump after returning to the World Cup on January 27, 2001 in Sapporo was with the 40th place just as little success as the jump in 1996. A day later, however, he reached the 19th place on the same jump and thus his first World Cup points. At the end of the 2000/01 season he was ranked 67th in the overall World Cup standings. From January 2002, launched Okamura firmly in the Continental Cup and was appointed only to jump in Japan as part of the national group in the World Cup squad. Here in 2002 he succeeded in Hakuba again the profit of World Cup points. It had been his last World Cup points, he could reach. Since 2002, Okamura jumps only at Continental Cup race in Japan as well as in local jump in the FIS Cup or FIS races. On 22 March 2008, he moved together with Yusuke Kaneko and Kazuki Nishishita after participating in the 9th Itō -hai Season Final Okurayama Nighter Jump Taikai from active competition.
