Sotirios Ninis ( 2013)
Sotirios Ninis began his football career in the youth teams of Apollon Athens where he played until 2003. After joining the youth academies of Panathinaikos Athens, he received in December 2006, his first professional contract and joined the squad the men's team, where he gave on January 7, 2007 at the age of 16 years against AO Aigaleo Athens his debut. Ninis was thus one of the youngest players ever used in the first Greek league.
On 27 January 2007 Ninis scored in the 2-0 victory over Panionios Athens its first league matches and thus became the youngest scorer in the history of Panathinaikos and the highest Greek league, since these 1979 received the professional status. A few weeks later, Ninis was also the youngest player to ever for a Greek team participated in a European Cup game when he came off the bench on 15 February 2007 in the UEFA Cup match Panathinaikos at RC Lens. On 17 December 2007 Ninis was awarded as "Greek Rookie of the Year 2007".
His debut in the Greek national U21 team was Ninis on 27 March 2007 in a 2-1 win over Denmark. As a regular player of the U- 19, Ninis qualified for the 2007 European Championship in Austria, where he could reach the second place with Greece. On the way to the final Ninis scored in the semifinal against Germany the meantime it 1-1 and prepared the remaining four tournament goals Greece. In 2010 he was nominated by the Greek coach Otto Rehhagel in the 23er squad for the World Cup in South Africa and consequently took part in his first major tournament. With its use in the group match against Nigeria on June 17, 2010, he became the youngest player who completed a World Cup game ever for Greece.
