Soul Train is an American TV show that has done much since 1971 for the popularization and development of black soul and dance music. The show was over three decades of the most successful television series broadcast in the United States. Because of the social importance and influence the show has become a TV legend. The producer and TV host Don Cornelius was the inventor of Soul Train. He put his idea for a TV show, in which the greatest talents of African-American music should have a permanent platform. But there were also white artists such as David Bowie and Elton John.
