Sourdeval

Sourdeval is a municipality with 2733 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in Normandy in France. It is located in the department of Manche in Basse-Normandie region. Sourdeval is chef-lieu ( chief town ) of the eponymous canton in the arrondissement of Avranches.

Geography

Sourdeval is located 32 km east of Avranches, about midway between Rennes and Caen, capital of Basse -Normandie region, at an altitude 155-354 meters. Until the English Channel, which connects the North Sea with the Atlantic Ocean, there are 44 km to the west and north 80 km away. In the municipality of Sourdeval springs of the 79 km long river Sée, which flows into the English Channel.

Partner communities

Sourdeval maintains since 1992 a partnership to light, a patch in Lower Saxony Nienburg / Weser. There is also a partnership for the English community Odiham in Hampshire, a county on the south coast.
