South African English

South African English is an English dialect, which is spoken mainly in South Africa, but also in the surrounding countries, such as Botswana, Namibia, Zimbabwe and Lesotho.

Importance of English in South Africa

Although English in South Africa is only one of eleven official languages ​​and is spoken by only eight percent of the population as a first language, so it holds in addition to Afrikaans and Zulu the role of a lingua franca, which is in the speakers of many different language and cultural groups country allowed to communicate with each.
