South Cambridgeshire

South Cambridgeshire is a District in the county of Cambridgeshire in England. It surrounds the city of Cambridge. The council is based in Cambourne, to 2004 South Cambridgeshire was also administered from Cambridge.

Other important towns are Balsham, Bar Hill, Bassingbourn cum Knees Worth, Bourn, Cambourne, Cherry Hinton, Comberton, Cottenham, Duxford, Fulbourn, Gamlingay, Great Shelford, Harston and Hauxton, Haslingfield, Histon and Impington, Linton, Melbourn, Meldreth, Milton, Oakington, Sawston, Stapleford, Swavesey and Waterbeach.

The district was formed on 1 April 1974 and evolved from the merger of Chesterton Rural District and South Cambridgeshire.
