South Kirkby and Moor Thorpe is a city that is part of the Metropolitan Borough of Wakefield in West Yorkshire, England.
History
The Anglo-Saxon villages South Kirkby Moor and Thorpe were first mentioned in 1086 in the Domesday Book. Until the beginning of the industrial revolution, the settlements were characterized by agriculture.
Later lived South Kirkby Moor and Thorpe of coal mining and textile industries. In 2009, the city had 10,979 inhabitants.
