South Manchuria Railway

The South Manchurian Railway Company ( Jap.南 満 州 鉄 道 株式会社/南 満 洲 鉄 道 株式会社Minami- Manshu tetsudō Kabushiki - gaisha ;満abbreviated鉄Mantetsu ) was one of the Empire of Japan in 1906, after the Russo -Japanese War (1904 -1905 ), founded in Dalian society that was active in the Japanese-occupied Manchuria. She took over the railway line previously built by Russia from Harbin to Port Arthur and spurts of it to Russian broad gauge to standard gauge.

Since the annexation of Korea by Japan until 1925, you were under the two lines in the north of Chosen (Korea ).

Its first president was Gotō Shinpei.

After the Japanese occupation of Java, it has received numerous standard gauge locomotives of the Nederlands -Indische Spoorweg because the tracks were converted there to Cape gauge. The company was declared after the end of the Second World War in 1945 by the American occupation government disbanded and taken over by the Red Army.
