Description

The South Russian Ovtcharka is a German Shepherd breed from Russia. Originally, the South Russian Shepherd of the Crimean peninsula in Ukraine. He is a great dog who is supposed to be agile, responsive and muscular. The withers should not be less than 62 cm in males and at least 65 cm in females. For both no maximum applies. His appearance - hair - sets him apart from the other Owtscharkarassen: It is very long ( 10-15 cm), covering the whole body, with plenty of undercoat. The hair feels like goatskin and is mostly white. But there are also gray and beige and white dog with gray plates.

Nature and use

The South Russian Ovtcharka is described as robust, courageous, alert and spirited. The breed was bred for their independence and protection drive. She had to keep order without human help, for example, when the sheep drank water originally in the labor input. The dogs saw to it that the sheep drank only water in small groups, otherwise the whole source would have been destroyed. Therefore, the South Russian Ovtcharka combines the properties of distrust strangers with great sensitivity and a talent for the mastery of situations. He accepted it when a dominant dog or person in control; but he noticed uncertainty, so he wants to dominate. For a puppy, it is absolutely necessary that he belongs to the family and growing up in the family circle.
