The Southern Cross University, SCU short, is a university in Lismore in the Australian state of New South Wales.

The SCU was founded in 1994. At the University of approximately 18,000 students enrolled, of which approximately 4,000 students in postgraduate training programs. In addition to the main site Lismore there are the sites Coffs Harbour, Port Macquarie and Tweed Heads. The plan is an additional location on the Gold Coast in Queensland.

The university is also actively involved in the field of distance learning, where about 1,300 students are enrolled in 50 countries.
