Southern Oregon University

The SOU Southern Oregon University is a public liberal arts college in Ashland, Oregon. Founded in 1871 as Ashland Academy today it is a college that offers Bacholor 's and master's degree programs and part of the Oregon University System.

History

The college was founded in 1872 as Ashland Academy of the Episcopal Methodist Church in Oregon. After renaming in Ashland College and Ashland College and Normal School was 1887 state recognition as a normal school. Due to lack of funding, the university was closed in 1890. The re-opening of the university in 1895 as Southern Oregon State Normal School was ensured by state resources. 1904 presented to the teaching again to reopen the college in 1926. After another renaming in Southern Oregon Normal School, Southern Oregon College of Education, Southern Oregon College and Southern Oregon State College in 1997, the institution received its present name to reflect the expansion of course offerings.

In addition to the campus in Medford is in partnership with Rogue Community College, the RCC / SOU Higher Education Center and are offered to the degree programs of the university.
