Southern Professional Hockey League

The Southern Professional Hockey League (abbreviated " SPHL ") is a minor league hockey in the American South. It exists since the beginning of the 2004/05 season, when some teams in the World Hockey Association 2 ( WHA2 ) and the South East Hockey League ( SEHL ) they founded.

History

The South East Hockey League gave up the game mode because Knoxville and Cape Fear ( Moved to Fayetteville before 2004 /05) were transferred to the WHA2 and the Huntsville Channel Cats, including Winston -Salem logged off. From WHA2 however, remained only the Jacksonville Barracudas, the Orlando Seals and the Macon Trax.

After the relocation of the Columbus Cottonmouths ( should compete in the ECHL as Gulf Coast Swords ) failed due to delays on Arenabau, she also joined the then already renamed SPHL. Another side-entrants were the Asheville Aces, who joined as the sixth team WHA2 and thus the main reason for the large expansion of the WHA2 were, and she then changed its name to Southern Professional Hockey League. Also Huntsville and Winston -Salem founded with the Havoc and the Polar Twins new teams, what the league had nine grow.

For the season 2010/11, the Augusta River Hawks from Augusta, Georgia, re-recorded in the league. A season later, the inclusion of the Mississippi RiverKings of the Central Hockey League.
