Southern Transdanubia

Southern Transdanubia ( ungar: Dél Transdanubia ) is one of seven Hungarian regions at NUTS 2-based (code: HU23 ) and part of Transdanubia (Latin side of the Danube ). The region consists of the three counties

  • Baranya
  • Somogy and
  • Tolna.

The biggest cities of southern Transdanubia Pécs, Kaposvar and Szekszárd. The region has 947 986 inhabitants and has an area of ​​14,169 km ². Moreover, it is part of the euro region Danube -Drava - Sava.

Location

The region is in the south - western part of Hungary, bordering Croatia. The three neighboring regions are in the north of Central Transdanubia, Western Transdanubia in the west and the Southern Great Plain in the east.
