Southern Weekly

Nanfang Zhoumo (Chinese南方周末, Pinyin Nanfang Zhoumo; Western media mostly as Southern Weekend, Southern Weekly or Southern Weekend referred to ) is a weekly newspaper in the People's Republic of China. The leaf which has existed since 1984 and a sister publication of the newspaper Southern Daily is, is released by the Southern Newspaper Media Group. The main editorial office is based in the southern Chinese city Guangzhou, other editors are located in Beijing, Shanghai and Chengdu. The Southern Weekly is also printed in an edition of more than 1.6 million copies in several places and widely disseminated. It is the largest weekly newspaper in mainland China and therefore represents one of the most influential media of the country represents the content line is relatively liberal and critical of the government, which has led several times to clashes with the Chinese authorities or the party apparatus.
