Southwest Research Institute

The Southwest Research Institute (short: SwRI ) is one of the oldest and largest independent organizations for research and development in the United States. Since its founding in 1947 by entrepreneur Thomas Baker Slick Jr. leads on non-profit base from R & D contracts for public and private clients. Operate about 3,000 people for the organization, have a doctorate of which about 270. In addition, it has nearly 1,000 U.S. patents. The headquarters of the SwRI is located in San Antonio, Texas and has 185,000 m2 of laboratory and office space. Total sales amounted to 2010 548 million U.S. dollars.
